# ¶ Cartesian 3D Coordinates

A Cartesian coordinate system for a three-dimensional space consists of an ordered triplet of lines (the axes) that go through a common point (the origin), and are pair-wise perpendicular; an orientation for each axis; and a single unit of length for all three axes. As in the two-dimensional case, each axis becomes a number line.

## ¶ Standard 3D-Number Lines

The following diagram is one standard way of assigning 3-tuple of numbers (x, y, z) to each point of 3D space. The diagram has tken 3 Number Lines at Origin O, made them perpendicular to each other and each coordinate is actually a number assigned to a corresponding Number Line e.g. x, y or z.
